Hello Friends of the Road,
Happy Easter to you all. I know some of you still have a foot or more of snow on the ground, but Spring is here. Yesterday I saw kids playing outside, people raking lawns, and even Spring flowers such as snow drops and crocuses.
Within a couple weeks, you will be receiving your annual mailing. Yesterday a few board members enlisted into an army of production line workers and prepared them for mailing. As always, I welcome any feedback you may have about the contents and any other comments you may have. Along those lines, we have included a short survey in with this year’s mailing. I know your time is valuable, but please consider completing some or all of it as it would help us keep this organization going and meeting the needs of its members. Thank you.
I’m not sure if any of you have heard of this thing called “The Facebook” but it seems to be all the rave. I wonder how the revolutionary war soldiers would have thought of it. If it was available to them, we’d have a lot more first hand accounts of their experiences. Instead, we only have a few scattered journals and maps to tell their stories. Speaking of journals, have any of you read the McClintock”s Journal? It is a great read, and we just dusted off a large supply of copies. It is just one of the new product offerings you will see in this year’s mailing.
Back on the subject of Facebook, we have been putting effort into a new group page entitled “Crown Point Road”. Our old page was “Crown Point Road Association”. So please “like” our new page and enjoy the conversations we’re having there. I’d like to give a big thanks to Tom Hughes, one of our great historians for leading the charge to contribute content to the page. In my opinion, Facebook group pages have become as valuable as websites. To quote the sharpshooter named Robert Zimmerman (aka Bob Dylan), “The times they are a-changin’!
