Friends of the Road Newsletter 2016-03-20

Hello Friends of the Road,
It is me, your Secretary of Defense. I survived a fierce campaign battle with a challenger last year and will be serving the CPRA for another year. The debates were long and grueling and in the end, it came down to a duel. Let’s just say I was a little quicker at the draw. It is my honor to be serving you all again.
Today is the first day of Spring! The sun is out and the days are longer. I was out this morning on a hike around Proctor. The benefit of being in the woods at this time of year, is you can see so well. I was walking on an old road that may have been part of the CPR. It was near West Street and there was a really nice stone banking evident on the outside of the road as it climbed the hill. If only we could glimpse into the past and potentially see a regiment of soldiers marching along on the road. Fun to think about it.
I have been hard at work spinning up the propaganda machine to produce this year’s brochure. Okay, I didn’t intentionally include any lies, and hopefully produced material typo free, and full of good information. Soon I will be distributing them to historical sites, libraries, places that will accept the brochures and of course, to the members.
I feel we’ve had a good healthy membership level the past few years and I hope it will continue into the future. Everyone on the board really appreciates your willingness to contribute to the Association. I understand a lot of the members do not participate in many of the outings, so I want to make sure you know how much we appreciate your generosity.
This coming year should be another busy and exciting one. The calendar has a record (in my era of service) number of events. The first one will be about a month from now. The CPRA website will be updated soon, so stay tuned. I’ll be sure to send out reminders throughout the year as well.

Cheers!
