First of all, I left out an important detail about the upcoming car tour. The meet time. It will be 10:00am.
Secondly, I have the following new info regarding the hike for the anniversary of the Crown Point Country Club:
1. The time of departure is 10:30. Please be ready to go at that time, as some people will go all the way to Reservoir Road.
2. We meet at the Crown Point Country Club, which is on Weathersfield Center Road close to the Springfield town line. (The west – uphill – side.) It’s the club’s 60th anniversary celebration. Crown Point Road material will be on display.
3. For $10.00 you can have breakfast at the club between 9:00 and 10:00. If you want to do this, we need to hear from you by Saturday, August 17th.
4. You have 3 choices: 1) Walk about a mile to a nice viewpoint and then walk back to the club. 2) Walk to the orchard, a little over a mile, and pick berries. Then walk back or get a ride back. Picking berries is optional. 3) Walk to Reservoir Road, about a 3 1/2 mile trip, and get a ride back. All options have a nice feeling of being on the Crown Point Road most of the time. Option 3 has more historic landmarks. Option 1 is level or a bit downwards. Option 3 is net downhill with some uphill.
