January 20, 2019 Dale Christie

Hello CPRA members,
I intended to get this email out earlier in the week, but perhaps I’m still hibernating from the long winter. For those looking for an excuse to skip the upcoming event so you can rake your yards, well, I’ve given you just that. I apologize for not giving you a reminder earlier. For those who flew south for the season, welcome back. You have missed a long and cold one. But Spring is here and there is once again reason to be outside. Speaking of that, this Saturday is our first event on the 2014 calendar. The official description reads as follows:

Saturday, April 26, 11:00 am
Allowing time for the snow to melt and the ground to firm up, we’ll start with a hike in Benson. Meet at the G&L Store on the corner of VT Route 22A and VT Route 144 in Benson. This hike will be on the Mount Independence-Hubbardton Military Road and about one mile in length. Jim Rowe will be the leader. We will walk along the route of the road over Howard Hill to East Road.

2014 should be another full and exciting year for the CPRA. I know we are all busy but I encourage you to make an effort to at least attend one event. One thing I always enjoy is the personalities that participate. Some of our events this year will focus on the military road that ran from Mount Independence to the Hubbardton Battlefield and on to Center Rutland. As you all know, the Crown Point Road is well documented and its history is fairly well known. But this other road is more up in the air. It is fun to theorize about its exact route and we will be exploring its history during some of our scheduled events.

So I wish you all the best and I hope to see you all soon!

Dale Christie (CPRA Secretary of Defense)
