Hello Friends of the Road,
I hope all is well with you all. The summer is flying by and thankfully the weather lately has been less rainy here in VT. The good side of rainy weather is there is more time to read historical books! One such book I’ve read part of recently was entitled: Conceived in Liberty, by Murray N. Rothbard. The book was shared with me by CPRA member Rebecca Hougher. Thank you Rebecca! If you are interested in reading it, there is an scanned copy available online for free. It can be found here: https://mises.org/library/conceived-liberty-2
It is a large publication, and if you aren’t up for the entire volume, I’d recommend reading the section about the Green Mountain Boys starting on page 1104.
This coming Sunday, the 20th, will be the date for the latest segment of the widely popular CPR car tour series. Jim Rowe will lead the way. Currently the weather looks very favorable and hopefully many of you can attend. Here is the official write-up for the outing:
On Sunday the 20th, at 12:30pm, meet at Hubbardton Battlefield Visitor’s Center. On this 6th annual driving tour, Jim Rowe will lead a tour of the Hydeville Branch of the 1776 Mount Independence-Hubbardton Military Road. We will go by car starting from the former Lake Bomoseen Inn, a.k.a. “The Dog”, in Hydeville, through West Castleton, and finishing in Eastern Benson. There will be several stops along the way for discussion. People should bring snacks/ lunch. It will take about 3 hours.
