Hello Friends of the Road,

How is everyone doing? Are you full of renewed energy? The weather lately has been great. It is great to see nature come out of hibernation and come back to life in front of our eyes. Today I heard “peepers” on the way home from work, and this evening I saw mosquitos! The latter is not welcome, but comes with the territory I suppose.

By now, many of you should be receiving our annual mailer, assuming we have your mailing address and your local postal carrier likes you. Just kidding. They are great and wouldn’t let their feelings for you determine if you get your mail or not. I hope you get excited about some of the upcoming outings. Or if you can’t attend any, I hope you enjoy catching up with our recent activities and seeing our new merchandise. Yes, I said NEW MERCHANDISE. Feel free to break your piggy banks and go on a spending spree. We would prefer you refrain from mailing us your rolls of pennies though.

Lately I’ve developed an interest in a local hero named Ann Story. A great statue of her has been unveiled recently on West Street in Rutland. It is worth the visit if you’re in the area. Without even looking for it, I came across an article about her recently on a new history website I found. After reading this article, you should browse the website further as it is a wealth of info. One of our upcoming outings involves former Revolutionary War forts in Pittsford. Thanks to Bill Powers, who will co-lead the event, I have an article by a local ABC affiliate about one of the forts. I believe there was once a video associated with the article, but unfortunately that is no longer available. Enjoy the nice weather, and I hope to see some of you at our first 2021 outing on May 22nd!
